  • 1.  commit failed (with error reading/opening files in /var/db/, /var/tmp/ , and error ffp failed)

    hi alll

    on a firewall on my network, it has started giving fol errors when i try to commit anything...

    root@srx240# commit check
    warning: error reading /var/db/feature.db: expecting 768 bytes, version 63 andread 0 and version 0
    error: could not open /var/tmp/spu_kmd_init: No such file or directory
    error: foreign file propagation (ffp) failed

     

    it has shown 3 errors , can sum1 plz guide reason of all 3 errors and solution????

    looking for kind response

    I would make sure that your storage is not full, maybe run a request system storage cleanup dry-run to see what there is.

     

    After that if still a problem, try re loading your junos image

    dear i have tried sys storage clean  up, but things are same...no change...

    i still see...

    warning: error reading /var/db/feature.db: expecting 1380 bytes, version 114 andread 0 and version 0
    error: could not open /var/tmp/spu_kmd_init: No such file or directory
    error: foreign file propagation (ffp) failed

    /var/db/feature.db Size: 0, Last changed: Jun 01 13:17:21

     

    what are contents of this file feature.db??? as on some other firewall i
    tried to read it where it showed all scarambled data(not readable)???


    # run file list /var/tmp/
    /var/tmp/: No such file or directory


    # run file list /var/tmp/spu_kmd_init
    /var/tmp/spu_kmd_init: No such file or directory

    even on other firewall, where i can find this file, it still shows
    0 size of this file, and no change since long long...
    so what does this file spu_kmd_init actually conatains???

    "On SRX5800 devices, when VPN is not in use, the device will not generate the var/tmp/spu_kmd_init/ file, which is logged by Iked_cfg. This should not happen because it is not an error condition. As a result disk space might be wasted over time. As a workaround, run the cp /dev/null /var/tmp/spu_kmd_init command from the shell to create this file. Also run request sys storage cleanup to clean up when the system has low disk space. [PR/425380]"

     

    ->what are contents of this file feature.db???

     

    this is related to licenses . Do you have any licences currently installed ? do you have any files with .lic extension in /config/license folder ?  If you have any licenses , may be you can try delete and reinstall them.

    hi dear Pradeep...

    thnx for giving gud explanation...
    now i m going to bother u againSmiley Happy.......
    1....features.db is just a warning,so im going to ignore that...(ohterwise i have not installed any additional liscenses after purchasing equipment)
    2....this is srx 240, and i m using vpn...u said on srx 5800, file will be generated when vpn established....
    here i m using vpn...so might be this file got erased somehow(although i dont know how come this can be erased,,any reason),, so i m going to create this again the way u have told me...
    then i will come back with whatever happens...
    3....3rd error i have mentioned it is
    foreign file propagation (ffp) failed...
    so wts this, plz guide on it aswell,,,,
