Hi

My SRX 650 firewall was stuck last week end and I reboot the firewall.

After the device was rebooted i checked the syslog msgs to investigate the cause and find these log msgs before the device was hanged.

/kernel: RT_PFE: RT msg op 2 (PREFIX DELETE) failed, err 5 (Invalid)

last message repeated 23 times

/kernel: RT_PFE: RT msg op 1 (PREFIX ADD) failed, err 5 (Invalid)

/kernel: RT_PFE: RT msg op 1 (PREFIX ADD) failed, err 5 (Invalid)

/kernel: RT_PFE: RT msg op 2 (PREFIX DELETE) failed, err 5 (Invalid)

last message repeated 95 times

Can any one explain these msgs?

Hi Arslan,

The error messages that you see is because of low memory condition is SRX box.

Memory exhaustion could happen because of sudden outburst of traffic or memory leak in Junos code.

JTAC recommended Junos version for SRX 650 is 11.4R9, which has got multiple memory leaks fixed.

You could plan for an upgrade to 11.4R9 release and monitor if you see this symptoms.

If you are already in 11.4R9, then you will have to open up a JTAC case to confirm if it a new memory leak.
