we currently have a SRX240 on Version 12.1X46-D35.1 and want to upgrade to 12.1X46-D65.
However we recieve the following error:
mgd: error: configuration database size limit exceeded
WARNING: Current configuration not compatible with /altroot/cf/packages/install-tmp/junos-12.1X46-D65.4-domestic
We have 6652 lines of code and the Device (Cluster) is running fine. We upgraded Clusters with 12k lines of code without error - therefore this seems a little odd...
I tried to clean up some space - but even with plenty of space the issue is still there.
Have you ever experienced something like this?

Could you please share the full message after you add the package. To clean storage, you can delete unwanted files using "request system storage cleanup". To view what all it will delete use "request system storage cleanup dry-run"
Please mark my solution as accepted if it helped.

configuration not compatible with /altroot
I think this is because your snapshot is now an older version of code than the current running partition. Try updating the snapshot.
request system snapshot slice alternate

show system storage detail
check the /config to see how much free space you have. Delete the old software that is stored. But this error does not seem to be about that, it seems like you may have exceeded the size of the configuration database.
