There is a problem with the AV and the email?
In this case, we have a policy to trust to untrust for a server mail with services DNS, FTP, HTTP, HTTPS, POP3 and SMTP. When this policy has AV activated, the server can't send emails to various domains, eg. gmail.com, yahoo.com. But when the AV is deactivated in this policy, this problem disappears.
This firewall is a SSG-5 version 6.1.0r4.0

Can you check the event log to see whats the error you are getting when the email fails?
