I think that one of the "easiest" ways to deal with the config is to save it to an tftp server, or to a USB stick, then edit it to map to your desired base config and load it back in. Presto you have your own "default" config. We keep about 10/15 base configs just like this that map to various scenarios that we use in our test lab.
Otherwise there is no "magic bullet" short of plain old editing.
