  • 1.  Configuring 2 NSRP clusters on same VLAN with same vsd-group 0

    Hi All,

I have a question about about NSRP configuration on NS5200.

If I have 2 NSRP clusters on the same LAN, one with cluster id 1 and the other with cluster id 2, what happens if I use the default vsd-group id 0 in both of them ? Is there any risk of service outage due to heartbeat confusion between the 2 clusters if I use a secondary path ? At the moment I will use the 2 dedicated HA interfaces but I want to know if there is any possible impact  if I decide to use a secondary path through the LAN switches.

    Thank you for your help.

    Regards.

    Hi!

You can have up to seven pairs of devices in the same broadcast domain that are configured with the same vsd-group ID (ScreenOS below 6.1). Please read the Knowledge Base ID: KB5837 The article contains the links to other ones, explaining how the VMAC addresses (virtual MACs) are derived and how to increase the number of unique VMACs in ScreenOS 6.1 and higher versions.

    Kind regards,

    Edouard
