This is a legacy community with limited Juniper monitoring.

  • 1.  DMZ interface constantly pinging the DMZ server(s)

    Hi,

     

    It seems that my SSG 5 DMZ interface (0/1) is constantly pinging (echo request) the DMZ email server. Then, the email server's sw firewall (iptables in RH Linux) blocks the ping packet and the logging floods the log file.

    Is this pinging normal? and if yes is there a way to stop it?

    Do you have a VIP or something configured? If you did then you need to uncheck the box that says "Server auto detection". Once you do that the firewall wil lnot try to ping the server any more.

     

    Go to the Interfaces -> interface in questions -> vip tab -> uncheck the box for server auto detect
