    Yes, you can definitely downgrade.

Please note you can not downgrade from the WebUI.

You need to have TFTP server reachable from the firewall (preferably local to firewall). Load the ScreenOS (make sure to unzip the file) to the root folder of the tftp server

On the firewall, via CLI run the following:

save soft from tftp <tftp IP> <filename> to flash

Once the entire software has completed, reset the device:

    reset

If you have console access, that would be best as you can monitor bootup process from there.

    Hi,

I have downgraded the ISG2000 to 6.1.0 version successfully. On the other hand, I will also upgrade another ISG2000 from ScreenOS 5.2.0r3b to 6.1.0 version. Hence, what is the step and command is needed for this upgrade?

    Thanks

    Check this guide:

    http://www.juniper.net/techpubs/software/screenos/screenos6.1.0/upgrade_guide.pdf

    Pg 9

You will need to upgrade the bootloader in this case and its better to have the TFTP server locally to do this.

    Hi  WL :

Could you explain  why did't suggest  downgrade from the WebUI?

         thank you!

Actually its not supported. If you try it via the webui, you will get an error which tells you that you can not downgrade via the webui.

Before you downgrade, make sure you have a backup copy of your config file.  I know, that is obvious, right???  But you wouldn't believe how many people go through the process of upgrading/downgrading major versions of code without a backup copy of the config.

Not all commands are downwards compatible.  You may see, when you downgrade, some commands may not be valid, simply because the syntax is different from the higher version of code to the lower version of code.

One last thing ... if at all possible, have a console connection when performing the downgrade.  This way, you can see what possible errors could be occurring during the downgrade.
