Is the Netscreen 5GT adsl being discontinued, and if so what will replace it?

Yes the 5gt will be end of life in a few time. Informations relating to the eof of this product are there :

The SSG5 will replace NS5GT.

Hi

 

The SSG5 does replace the 5GT. 

 

But if you are looking for ADSL then you will have to go for the SSG20 and the ADSL Mini PIM, this is more costly than the old 5gt with built in adsl unfortunately, but there is no SSG5 with ADSL built in.

Starting from next year (1/1/2009), you won't be able to buy NS-5GT any more, SSG-5 and SSG-20 are the replacements for NS-5GT's. Use SSG-20 when you need WAN options on it such as ADSL, Serial, etc. and SSG-5 when you only need LAN ports.

So the basic cost of a Netscreen firewall with an ADSL interface is set to more than triple!?

The 5GT models were quite economical, but the SSG units with the ADSL module are expensive....
