This is a legacy community with limited Juniper monitoring.

I want to monitor the traffic/bandwidth of one interfaces (the internet facing internet) on my Juniper SSG 550.

Someone mentioned SNMP and MRTG to me.

Has anyone ever done this? And what are the steps by steps instructions?

How do enable and configure SNMP on the SSG 550? How to create SNMP community?

How do you get the MRGT to graph the data?

    #monitor
    #550
    #SSG
    #SNMP

SNMP is the easiest way to monitor traffic on interfaces.

    The steps are:

    1. Configure SNMP community on the device

    2. Install Perl on Server

    3. Install MRTG.

    4. Run cfgmaker on MRTG

    5. Run MRTG

There is plenty of information about MRTG at http://oss.oetiker.ch/mrtg/

    Thanks,

    Cesar
