NSM for SSG with IPS turned on?

Do we need NSM, if we have SSG with IPS turned on?

NSM is for centralized device management, monitoring and reporting.  It does not provide IPS (or Deep Packet Inspection in the SSGs case) functionality so what NSM provides should not be considered as an alternative to IPS/DI on the firewall.
