    Dear All,

As i know it can be configured a SSG140 to connect Internet via PPPoE. I setup physical connection as below and followed Netscreen document to configure but PPPoE failed :
    Internet --- Linksys (bridge mode) --- E0/2 of SSG140

    My configuration as following:

PPPoE error message: Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet (PPPoE) connection failed to establish a session. Timeout PADI

By the way i already checked my linksys router and it worked well in bridge mode. I think there's something wrong or mis-configuration. Please help me!

    Thank you for all help.

Do you need to specify the access concentrator?

I have configured PPOE on Netscreen multiple times here in Belgium and I never need to specify the access concentrator. I just have the config like this:

    set pppoe name "blabla"
set pppoe name "blabla" username "userblabla@PROVIDER" password "hashedpassblabla=="
set pppoe name "blabla" idle 0
set pppoe name "blabla" interface ethernet0/2
    unset pppoe name "blabla" update-dhcpserver
set pppoe name "blabla" ppp lcp-echo-retries 10
set pppoe name "blabla" ppp lcp-echo-timeout 180
set pppoe name "blabla" auto-connect 3

    Dear Stan-Gobien,

I can get pppoe connected successfully . Could you tell me if there is other way SSG can connect directly to Internet without bridge-mode router ?

    Thanks for your help.

    Sorry for the late reply.

For ADSL or VDSL you need a modem. For the SSG20 you have an optional ADSL modem module that you could use.
I always use a modem device that I place in bridge mode. Usually a SAGEM for VDSL or a ZYXEL for ADSL.

Depending on your provider and the type of subscription you have different methods.

If you have internet via the cable then you don't need a xDSL modem and usually the cable modem they place supplies a WAN IP using DHCP to your Netscreen.

Or sometimes providers place a cisco router they manage and you have to assign a statically configured IP adres on your Netscreen.
