    We inherited a SSG520 and were left some rather sparse instructions on upgrading it.  We have 5.1.0 and want to go to 6.1.0r1.  The docs say we need to go to 5.4.0r8 first - but all they left us was ns50ns25.5.4.0r13.0.   Our 6.1 file seems SSG500 specific, was the firmware not platform specific at 5.4.x?  Should we keep looking for a SSG specific 5.4?  It is possible it is laying around in their mess somewhere!

    ScreenOS is specific to the family/model of device it runs on.  You cannot run ScreenOS that is meant to run on an NS25/50 on an SSG family device.  And even within the SSG family group there are specific firmware for models of device.   You will need to get ScreenOS that is meant for the SSG520/550.  You can download this via the Juniper support site with a valid support agreement.  Also one last tip.  When moving from 5.4 to 6.1 you will need to update the bootloader code as well.
