I have some questions about  firmware update on netscreen 5gt version 5.3

1. Is there any know issue when I update from v5.3 to v6.2?

2. Is it right that i need a "nsm" to manage the device when it has v6.2?

1- It should not be a problem. That is a big jump but it should go fine. Of course back up your config first off of the box 🙂

2- You do not need NSM to ever manage any version of a ScreenOS box. Thankfully!

Definetly 6.2 is latest release and it covers more issue than 5.3.

But you will not be able to use the UTM ( AV , DI , URL) features in 6.2.

i got some issues after the upgrade and loading the config-file, but I don´t now why.

Load System Configuration .....
Failed command - set service "ident" protocol tcp src-port 0-65535 dst-port 113-113

           my other service "gw-client" is loading correctly !!!!!

           set service "GW-Client" protocol tcp src-port 0-65535 dst-port 1677-1677
........................
.......Done
system init done..

The change from 5.x to 6.x is a major change and there are some commands that have been added, changed or removed.

I would just re-create the service via CLI or Web, after checking to ensure that it isn't actually there or somehow used as a predefined in 6.2.

I re-create the service and get  "command is in config".

I reste the Box and get the same failture "Failed command"

Maybe it is an old command and something lost in the config. I will delete this command.

I test every VPN-Client and Service and all works fine.

Hi guys,

i know this is an old one but i have problems with NSM after upgrading from 5.4 to 6.2r12. Now i can not manage the Device with my NSM2007.3r5. This version should suppport screenos6.2

I was not able to upgrade the Device via NSM so i decided to upgrade manualy by web which worked fine.

But now when i want ot make a adjust os version it says it is not supported to upgrade from 5.4 to 6.2. But it is not possible to upgrade to 6.0 for ns-5gt.

So how can i fix this? Any tipps?
