Welcome to the new Juniper Networks security blog!  Here at Juniper a great many of us have been working on new technology for securing the New Network; this blog is a way for us to share with you some of the things we have been up to.

Over the coming weeks and months we will be discussing a variety of topics and examining them from a number of angles.  We will be looking at new threats as they emerge and talk about the new technologies we are developing to counter these threats.  We will be looking in depth at security incidents in the news as well as reporting on the wider trends in the security marketplace.  We will also be offering our insights into the comings and goings at the major Information Security conferences and events.  We hope you will enjoy hearing what we have to say as well as learning something in the process!

Since this is the very first posting, I would like to take this opportunity to introduce some of the members of our blogging team.  So that we can bring you the widest possible coverage, the team is made up of distinguished engineers, researchers and technical staff from the field as well as product marketing folk, operational security personnel and members of the executive team.  We will also be inviting guest bloggers to join the conversation from time to time, bringing their own perspectives.

The Team

Steve Hanna may already be known to some of our readers as he has been blogging on the Juniper New Network site for some time.  Steve is a Distinguished Engineer at Juniper, a frequent public speaker and a member of a number of several standards bodies, chairing several working groups in organizations such as the TCG and the IETF.

Oliver Tavakoli is the CTO of Juniper's Service Layer Technology business group.  Being responsible for the architecture and technology directions across the whole range of products from SLT, Oliver has unique insight into how the big picture fits together both from the technical standpoint and from the market point of view.

Karim Toubba is the VP of Product Marketing for the SLT business group.  Karim's 20 years in high-tech companies include several successful security startups.  Karim will be blogging about what's new in the network security market, separating the hype from the hard realities and talking about where Juniper is heading in order to best address the problems faced by you, the customer.

Bryan Burns is another of our Distinguished Engineers and leads our Intrusion Detection and Prevention signature team.  Bryan is often one of the first of the Good Guys on the internet to see new network threats and his team are constantly updating Juniper's tools for keeping the Bad Guys out of your network.  Bryan will be blogging about new threats and exploits and will be running a regular column on the latest security patches being released by the operating system vendors.

Paul Gacek is the vice-president in charge of Juniper's Core Security Software group.  Paul leads a team of more than 300 people across the globe who are building, testing and delivering the software at the very heart of products lines like the SRX.  Paul has a wealth of knowledge to share about what it takes to actually build the security technology on which our network security relies.

Krishna Narayanaswamy is also a Distinguished Engineer in SLT.  He is currently working on Deep Packet Inspection technology for products targeted at service providers and enterprise markets.  Krishna has 19 years of experience in data networking involving Ethernet, ATM, IP, Switching and Security technologies. He has authored almost a dozen patents and he has been actively involved in the IEEE 802.1 and ATM Forum standards committees.  Krishna will be blogging about some of the technology that Juniper is building to underpin the next generations of high-performance network security products.

Dan Hoffman is one of the world's leading mobile security experts, with over 15 years direct experience securing mobile technologies. Dan is the author of numerous security books and well-known for his live hacking demonstrations, videos and security articles, many of which have been included into the curriculum of Universities throughout the world.  Naturally, Dan will be blogging about mobile security topics, as well as the areas such as hacking and forensics.

Leslie K. Lambert has recently joined Juniper Networks as our first Chief Information Security Officer.  She comes to Juniper after 18 years with Sun Microsystems and is leading Juniper's ongoing efforts to "Secure The Enterprise".  Leslie will be blogging about the real-world threats faced by a modern, highly connected business and discussing life at the sharp end of securing information systems for a NYSE-listed company.

Douglas Murray serves as SVP & GM, High-End Security and Data Center Services at Juniper Networks.  He is responsible for developing and executing strategy, product development and overall business management of Juniper's current and next-generation scalable security and network traffic visibility technologies and platforms. Doug has also held a variety of senior management positions at Sun Microsystems and AT&T.  He will be writing on advancing the evolution of security leadership and the associated impact to the data center.

As for me, I'm the Chief Security Architect here at Juniper.  I work in the Service Layer Technology group where I am in charge of leading the technology direction for innovative Network Security products.  For the last 15 years I've been working in the fields of security and cryptography, creating products, evangelizing technologies and doing research.  I shall be writing on a number of topics ranging from threats and vulnerabilities to how the changing topologies in corporate networks are changing the whole way we look at security.

As well as the team of bloggers I have introduced here, we will also be getting occasional guests to join the discussion with special feature articles.  We believe that the team we have assembled will be able to inform, enlighten and entertain you but above all we want this to be a two-way conversation.  We therefore invite you, the readers, to add your comments and engage with us in a discussion about how we are going to make the New Network more secure.

Welcome to the Security Blog!

@etaye1

Your question would be better answered in our J-Net Forums "Training, Certification and Career Topics" board.  Please post it there for a response. Thank you.
