The eternal challenge of the data center is balancing the quality of the user experience against the economics of building and operating the data center. Unfortunately, most networks today are not architected to support the scale or dynamism demanded by the modern data center. Only by re-architecting the data center network to eliminate complexity can we realize the full benefits of virtualization and cloud computing.
You’ve heard quite a bit from us on our vision for flattening the data center, and how simplicity delivered by fabric and Juniper’s 3-2-1 data center network architecture is the focus of Juniper’s strategy in the data center and beyond – a model that begins in the data center and enables the cloud.
For technical decision makers interested in learning more about how to evolve the data center, I invite you to read Juniper’s white paper on Network Fabrics for the Modern Data Center. It examines the changes occurring in the data center and how these changes mandate a different design approach. The paper also explains Juniper’s approach to building data centers using fabrics and how this will evolve to meet the increasing challenges of scale and complexity. It’s a great primer to Juniper’s current fabric solution for data centers and gives readers a view of our vision for future evolution.
We’ll be sharing much more in the coming months. While we have some items in mind worth exploring with you here, I’d also welcome hearing what it is that you might want to know on the future of the data center. What challenges do you see?
