It’s been a great week so far. We kicked off the event with a class on Entrepreneurship, followed by two days of Junos Space SDK training and now comes the fun part of the event – writing the applications. For the next two days the participants will write applications to monitor real-time traffic, aggregate and produce data from operator reports and dynamically provision network elements using the Junos Space SDK.
The workshop and competitive challenge has been designed to provide the next-generation software developer’s access to the tools and guidance needed to design new innovations for programmable networks. Our hope is that the workshop is giving the students the hands-on experience with the concepts needed to
help solve some of the real-world challenges that we are seeing in the networking industry today.
On Saturday we will judge the solutions developed by the participants and award prizes. The great thing about these events is the ability for us to work with incredibly smart individuals who want to change the world with software. For those of you who missed this hackathon, don’t forget that we will do it again this fall in our OpenLaps facility in New Jersey.
Exploring the vision for the networking industry and the issues shaping its future.
