Running on Juniper: Achieving Significant Milestones In Our Dell Relationship

Today, Juniper and Dell achieved a series of significant milestones in our previously announced partnership. These milestones, which are great validations of Juniper’s overall corporate strategy of embracing partnerships, will allow Dell customers to build a cost-effective, dynamic network infrastructure for data centers, branch offices  and remote networks.

Available today under the Dell PowerConnect brand are Juniper’s EX Series Ethernet Switches and SRX Series Services Gateways. Dell also has plans to add the MX Router Series to this portfolio over time.

If that weren’t exciting enough, Juniper has also been awarded an OEM design win to develop a very low-cost SMB (Small to Medium Business) focused secure gateway router for Dell. We expect this product to formally join the Dell PowerConnect J-Series portfolio later this year and provide SMB customers with the numerous benefits of an all-in-one security appliance.

Dell’s entire J-Series portfolio will run on the Junos operating system, our reliable, high-performance network operating system for routing, switching, and security that reduces the time to deploy new services and decreases network operation costs by up to 41%. “Runs on Junos” will be proudly and prominently displayed on the front bezels of these new products!

As I have previously written, Juniper’s corporate strategy is to embrace partnerships so we can deliver best-in-class solutions for service providers and enterprises of all sizes. Followers of Juniper know that we fundamentally believe the “old” way of building networks – fraught with vendor-lock in selling strategies and inherent network inefficiencies – simply cannot continue. Today’s exploding data volumes are putting stresses on data centers that tax both the network and IT budgets. This  challenge will only become magnified when virtualization and cloud computing truly hit the mainstream.

With today’s milestone, Juniper and Dell are driving network simplification to an even larger audience. While this achievement represents the culmination of a tremendous amount of work between our two companies – it’s only just the beginning. In the months and years ahead you will see us work to expand and enhance Dell’s PowerConnect portfolio with additional industry leading Juniper-based offerings that will truly enable The New Network. Stay tuned!
