If you had to name the top 5 innovations that helped shape the world, what would they be? It’s hard to name just a few because there are so many inventions that improved lives everywhere. For me, telecommunications would be one of the key innovations. Why? The power to connect everything and empower everyone has transformed the speed of knowledge shared across the world and never before has any technology connected so many lives without the barriers of time and distance. The network is at the heart of enabling this connected culture and today, Juniper announced new innovations that help the telecom industry deliver services faster while using less power.
Consumer and business users today are savvy with devices and applications , but have little patience to wait for data. Every click, swipe, or tap downloads or uploads information, and I have to admit, I hate waiting too, especially for video clips. Juniper introduced a new content caching engine called the Application Services line card that caches over 6.4TB of content and it’s integrated right on our MX 3D Universal Edge Router. Service providers who deploy this could cache thousands of videos, stream the video at a blazing 40Gbps per card, and deliver better quality of experience. Along with this technology, we also introduced software that lets opt-in subscribers receive relevant ads, add parental control, stream video to multiple screens, etc. all from the edge router. More intelligence, more services, all integrated on the MX 3D Series which helps service providers reduce costs, streamline operations, while delivering better quality of experience.
The MX 3D Universal Edge is deployed in many countries around the world, and it is enabling Internet connectivity to millions of users everywhere every day. It’s why we are so excited for Juniper to connect everything and empower everyone - to share photos, videos, voice, emails, or just a quick tweet. It is Juniper’s vision behind the New Network.
