Taking the Advantages of One Junos to the Cloud

Last week, I wrote about leveraging the inherent flexibility and scalability advantages of cloud computing and how Juniper Networks is driving new innovations that extend the accessibility and cost savings of clouds. But cloud services are also enabling new ways for Juniper Networks to help our current and future customers that I think are worth sharing as you explore building and working with clouds for strategic benefit.

This week, we announced Junosphere Classroom, a cloud-based service that enables customers to learn and educate using Junos® OS running in the cloud (rather than on a physical device). It’s a virtual network environment that delivers real hands-on experience with networking elements powered by Junos, our single operating system.

Junosphere Classroom is a new service delivered by Junosphere, a cloud-based environment that enables the creation and modeling of virtual networks using Junos OS. With Junosphere Classroom, Juniper will further enable customers, partners and educational institutions to discover new creative ways to experiment, model and educate their communities with a cloud-based delivery model. In addition, it’s proven to be a time and expense saver and a natural way to benefit from the flexibility and scalability of cloud computing. As an example, check out one of our early adopters, Queen Mary, University of London.

As a cloud-based offering, Junosphere Classroom has tremendous cost savings versus a physical classroom or lab – there are no new servers or other elements to purchase, power, house and cool. It’s also extraordinarily flexible; networks can be rapidly scaled up or down, and network topologies can be changed without the need to rack and stack equipment. This means students spend more time learning, and courses can be brought online quickly and efficiently as business needs evolve.

Juniper Networks’ cloud computing innovation is not only changing how the company develops, builds, tests and brings new products and technology to market…it’s now changing how our customers and our expanding partner ecosystem share, experiment, learn and grow. With Junosphere Classroom, you can both leverage the cloud network as well as learn how to manage it.
