Who would have thought that the old "branch network" environment that was dominated by a single vendor would change so much so quickly? The new world of mobile workers seems to pile new requirements onto old branch networks with rich media driving high-performance needs, explosions of single-purpose appliances driving complexity, out-of-control OS versions driving high costs, and excess network layers causing needless expense.
