Forecasts for clouds fill our industry. Few would argue the big trends: more services, more devices, more traffic…
However, big trends offer only general guidance for planning and we all have line of sight into them. If the path to success in building and delivering cloud services has 1000 steps, we all know what 900 of those steps need to be. Now that doesn’t mean everyone has the same resources or expertise to execute on them. But make no mistake, where the market will be in five or even two years is uncertain and it’s the smaller insights and actions along the way (the other 100 steps), that will separate the winners from the losers.
I shared one way to approach the uncertainty of the industry’s cloudy forecast in an address to the Carrier Cloud Forum at Interop: think big, act small, and then, move fast. Of all of these, acting small is perhaps the most overlooked and the most challenging.
