The New Network
Explore Juniper’s vision for network innovation and how the company and industry are shaping the future with the new network

Earlier this month, Juniper introduced the "New Network Leadership Series," which features taped conversations with our executives and industry thought leaders.  The resulting videos, we hope, provide viewers with experts' insights on the current state of the network and what's ahead for us.

In our first installment, Juniper CEO Kevin Johnson sat down with Vinton G. Cerf, Vice President and Chief Internet Evangelist at Google.  In this latest installment, Kevin talks with Dr. Robert Metcalfe, currently a General Partner at Polaris Venture Partners.  Bob is a well-known Internet pioneer who invented Ethernet, the local-area networking (LAN) standard on which he shares four patents. Today, about 350 million new Ethernet ports are shipped annually.

Bob discusses the events that led to the creation of Ethernet and the impact it continues to hold today.  Additionally, he gives his perspective on the challenges facing the networking industry today and what the future holds for all industries.

Let us know what you think of the conversation.  Are there any other trends the networking industry should keep in mind?  Feel free to leave a comment or email me.

A little more than a month ago in New York, Juniper outlined our vision for the next decade of networking - The New Network. If you watched the simulcast of the event, you noticed that we had some comments from prominent luminaries who were at the vanguard of the creation of modern networking.

Today, we are launching the "New Network Leadership Series" which will feature taped one-on-one conversations with industry thought leaders. These short videos will capture experts' insights from all facets of the network, their views on where we've been and ideas on what's ahead.

The first installment features a conversation between Juniper CEO Kevin Johnson and Vinton G. Cerf, Vice President and Chief Internet Evangelist at Google.  Vint offers his perspectives on the many decades since his initial work at the dawn of the Internet, the challenges facing us today and what innovation will mean for the future.

Additionally, Vint outlines key trends and business model transformations currently taking place, including: machine-to-machine communications, smart grid technology, cloud computing and consumer mobile devices. He discusses with Kevin what's ahead in the next decade and the effects these trends might have on the networking industry.

Let us know what you think of the conversation.  Are there any other trends the networking industry should keep in mind?  Feel free to leave a comment or email me.
