To all - we would love to get some discussion going here on this thread about preping for your JNCIP/JNCIE, your questions, experiences, advice (without violating any exam content or your exam NDA!!!).  So, what do you have to say???

Hi All, I am curios to know about a few things. In the JNCIE-M exam I was told that there is an area where you have to discover an already existing IGP topology and build on top of it. Is it the same for JNCIE-SP. Or does JNCIE-SP deal with the students having to build the complete topology Any help here is appreciated

Hi,

We cannot provide specifics about the exam itself.  In general, you should be able to configure and troubleshoot everything listed in the exam's blueprint (http://www.juniper.net/us/en/training/certification/service_provider_track.html#jnciesp).

Hi Kieran,

Thanks for your reply. I saw the blue print. Just have a few questions on that.

The exam itself will only comprise of questions from the blue print only. Or should the blue print only be taken as a guideline.

Can we expect topics that are not listed in the blue print to come for the exam ?

Thanks

Hi Arun,

The blueprint covers all the topics you might see on the related exam.  There will be no exam questions beyond the scope of the blueprint.

Kieran

Thanks for posting this but not sure why you have called it "How to Prepare for the New Junos JNCIP and JNCIE Exams"

It is 99.9% JNCIE no real information for JNCIP exam.

That is becuase the P levels are straight forward - there are training classes being offer that prep for these and the courseware is available for purchase.  E levels - by their nature - have a more complex prep process.

Re: October 5, 2011 JNCP Webcast Playback Now Available!

Hi,

I just saw recorded session of webcast and it is really informative. I have cleared JNCIP-SP exam and i would like to appear for JNCIE-SP but i dont have any Junos device to work on. As expert level exam requires extensive hands-on practice, what options do i have to prepare for lab exam on my own. I work in an ISP environment and i do not get any chance to get hands-on on any device due to nature of my work. There are several simulators available in market to have hands on experience of other vendor devices. Is Junosphere available to individual aspirants who are neither partner employees nor associates?

Thanks.

There are a few companies that have lab rentals.  And there is the new Junos Sphere project.  Here is my collected list of options.

JunoSphere

This is virtual lab that is only just released.  It is designed for training and does have SRX modules.  It does not yet support EX switch functions.  And all interfaces are ethernet.   Cost is $5 per device per day for rentals.  They are sold through the normal partner network.

Simulator

There is a 3rd party basic simulator that has some functionality for practive and a reasonable price.
