write lab JNCIP-M now or wait for new exams to come out JNCIP-SP, JNCIE-SP

is it worth writing the JNCIP-M exam in the coming months or should one wait for the new LAB to come out for JNCIP-SP exam which would include MX switching.

would my current JNCIS-M be valid for writing JNCIP-SP or would i need to write the JNCIS-SP prometric exam ?

if i clear the JNCIP-M now , would that be valid for the JNCIE-SP LAB exam or would I need to write the JNCIP-SP ?

it would be appreciated if some one from JNTCP could comment on the above as i guess there are many hesitant candidates like me for the lab exams

Ditto what azeem said.  Not sure what is able to be shared publically on J-Net at this time, but it would be nice to know a little about the future of current -M tracks and how they will apply to -SP tracks.

I just passed the JNCIP-M and have started studying for JNCIE-M.  Hopefully, those efforts will not be in vain when the changes are announced to the -M/-SP track.

Thanks for posting your questions.    We definitely recommend that if you have prepared for and are ready to take the exam supporting JNCIP-M (or JNCIE-M) that you continue with that plan.   Once earned, this credential will remain active for two years even as we begin to move to our new framework.  In addition, your JNCIS-M will be valid as a prerequisite for the JNCIP-SP and the JNCIP-M will be valid as prerequisite for the JNCIE-SP.

As you know, we are making changes to the JNCIx-M tracks.  This will start with the release of the JN0-360 exam in August – which will support JNCIS-SP.  The exam supporting JNCIS-M will be discontinued in October.  However, your JNCIS-M credential will remain an active certification until recertification is required.

Additional information on the new JN0-360 exam and the new JNCIx-SP certifications will be posted here in the next two weeks.

Would like to know as following as i am preparing for JNCIP-M lab now:

1) When the JNCIP-M lab exam will be no longer available?

2) Would the JNCIP-SP same syllabus/blueprint same as JNCIP-M?

3) For those has certified as JNCIP-M, do they need to take JNCIP-SP lab to remain certification?

i believe all these will be a concern for those who are preparing for JNCIP-M right now.

The JNCIP-SP exam will be available in the first part of 2011.  The JNCIP-M lab exam will retire 60 days after the release of the JNCIP-SP lab exam - so mid year 2011.  The objectives for the new SP track will address much of the same topics covered by the current M series, but reflecting the most current technologies and business issues.

Any certification earned in the M series remains valid for a full two years under our standard recertification policies.  Juniper Certified technologists in the M series will be able to re-certify within the M series AS LONG AS THE EXAM REQUIRED FOR RECERTIFICATION IS STILL AVAILABLE.  As we retire the M series exams candidates will take the appropriate SP series exam for recertification.  M series certification will not be automatically changed to the SP credential.  This will require recertification on the SP track.

We are currently preparing detailed communications around the changes in the Juniper Networks Certification Program and will be emailing this info out to all Juniper Certified individuals as well as posting on J-Net and the certification websites/portals.  Please look for a direct email and check back here in mid-July.

Meanwhile - we are monitoring these discussions and happy to answer any questions!

I would like to know how will JNCIP/E-M holders change to the SP credential ?

As with our current recertification policies, those holding a P/E level certification earned by doing a lab exam can re-certify AT THE SAME LEVEL by taking the highest level WRITTEN exam.  You will not be required to re-certify by taking another lab exam.  So - what does this mean?

If you have a JNCIP-M you recertify by:

• Up to September 30 - Passing the JN0-304 M-series, Specialist (JNCIS-M) exam (available at Prometric until October 1).  This will re-certify you as a JNCIP-M.  OR
• After September 30 - Pass a written “re-certification” exam (available late 2010/early 2011).  This will re-certify you as a JNCIP-SP (see additional info below).
• You can also recertify, and advance your credential, by earning the JNCIE-M or the JNCIE-SP (lab exam available early 2011).

If you have a JNCIE-M you can recertify by:

• Up to September 30 - Passing the JN0-304 M-series, Specialist (JNCIS-M) exam (available at Prometric until October 1).  This will re-certify you as a JNCIE-M.  OR

Once earned your credential will provide all the benefits of Juniper Networks Certification until you are required to re-certify.

Once JNCIP/E-M holders earned JNCIP/E-SP credential, and the certificate number and certified date on JNCIP/E-SP certificate would be the same as those on M series certificate , or will be assigned new number and date ?
