Our ha clustering with wlcs is simple. You can do layer2 or distributed layer3 clustering with config sync. Your licenses are cluster based, which means you just do a license for the entire ha environment.
So let's say you need 1024 APs with wlc2800. Each controller can do 512 APs which you will buy three controllers and 1024 AP licenses. We are a much more fair model when compared to Aruba and others who make you double up on licenses for ha environments.
