Juniper Networks continues to work with IBM to help customers address their data center challenges and transform their IT infrastructure.  Together, we published a new IBM Redpaper, “Building a Smarter Data Center with IBM Flex System and Juniper Networks QFabric” to help customers address both complexity and infrastructure constraints in their data centers.

Today Arrow Electronics announced new integrated solution bundles that combine the IBM Flex System compute, storage, networking, management and virtualization components with Juniper Networks QFabric technology. Available through Arrow’s value added resellers in the United States and orderable as a single part number, these bundles address the escalating need data center operators face to solve server sprawl and virtualization management issues. With these new bundles, customers looking to purchase integrated solutions for their data centers now have a new choice.

Modern data center networks face an unprecedented array of challenges, including cost effective scaling, support for new applications such as highly virtualized data centers, more reliable delivery of Ethernet data frames, and much more.  This week at Interop in Las Vegas, IBM released a series of technical briefs that present a vision for the creation of an open data center with an interoperable network.
 

Not too long ago, enterprises eagerly purchased best of breed IT components and self-integrated the pieces to create their own solution.  Software and hardware from various suppliers implemented by internal IT staff members to meet what seemed like unique requirements.   It was complex, expensive, and time consuming to complete.  Often, major IT projects came in late and over budget.  Times have changed and now enterprises must control cost, reduce time to benefit, maximize efficiency, and build agility in their IT environments. IBM’s new family of Expert Integrated Systems is the latest step forward in advanced computing for IT customers.

At the 2012 HIMSS (Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society) event on February 20-24 in Las Vegas, Juniper Networks and IBM will lead a lunch & learn breakout session for healthcare IT executives entitled, “Innovate Your HIT With Transformed Telemedicine and Secure Clinical Mobility Solutions from IBM and Juniper Networks”.  The session will be held in room 103 from 12:00 to 1:30pm on Tuesday, February 21, 2012.

IBM has proven once again that "big things can come in small packages."  Today the company introduced a new reference configuration specifically designed for Mid-Market clients to quickly deploy a departmental, entry cloud solution. This reference configuration provides IBM business partners with a complete solution stack to help clients choose and deploy a comprehensive pre-tested solution including servers, networking, storage and software and the infrastructure and management tools needed to quickly and easily implement private clouds for their data centers.

On November 11, IBM announced a new managed security service that addresses today’s security concerns for smartphones and tablet devices in the workplace.  Built on Juniper’s Junos Pulse Mobility Security Suite, IBM will provide organizations with on-device protection for mobile devices – including iPhone, Blackberry, Windows and Android devices, among others.

In February, Juniper Networks launched the QFX3500 switch and with it announced QFabric, a new paradigm in data center networking.  Since then, QFabric has delivered on its promises of high performance, simplified manageability, low latency and cost savings in beta testing and proof of concepts with a small group of customers. Today, QFabric is now available for customers to order and experience!

Juniper and IBM has provided Fiberlight with leading networking and security technology to create a next-generation dedicated IP platform. The solution enables FiberLight to bundle its core fiber network product with high-speed Internet connectivity on a single, consolidated network, allowing FiberLight to offer its customers secure and resilient network services that can scale to meet changing demand at highly competitive price points.



May 31, 2011 marked the official launch of a new IBM Enterprise Data Center in Auckland, New Zealand. Located at Highbrook Business Park, this new data center will help position IBM as the market leader in cloud-enabled services in New Zealand. Through its long standing relationship with Juniper Networks, IBM deployed a complete routing, switching and network security solution from Juniper, all running the Junos operating system, to dramatically reduce the cost and complexity of data center networking.

Juniper shares IBM’s vision for delivering the exciting potential of cloud-based services and virtualization and thanks to our intelligent solutions, this new IBM data center is built and managed for flexible growth, to meet unpredictable demand, and to support new computing models such as cloud computing. It also enables IBM to deliver a range of Cloud services to the New Zealand market, including Virtual Server Services and hosted private and hybrid cloud infrastructure services.



Three months ago, Juniper Networks transformed the data center with the announcement of the QFabric™ architecture and the introduction of the QFX3500 Switch, a high-performance, ultra low latency, feature rich L2 and L3 device that also offers a fabric-ready edge solution for Juniper’s single-tier data center solution. 



For the next three days (April 25-27) in Orlando, Florida at the Orange County Convention Center, Juniper Networks will be showcasing its innovation at the IBM Power and System z Technical Symposia in Booth 10 of the Solutions Center.

With over 1,200 attendees expected this year, this IBM event offers customers the opportunity to learn more about IBM’s Smarter Computing initiatives, including Project Watson and how Juniper Networks contributed to its success with the EX8200 Ethernet switch. For Watson, there will be an interactive demonstration as well as a simulated game, so attendees can see how Watson analyzes the meaning and context of human language and quickly processes information to find answers to questions in seconds.

On February 14-16, IBM will debut a new generation of “super” computers with the televised introduction of Watson. With the help of Juniper’s EX Ethernet Switches, running on the Junos operating system, IBM’s Watson super computer will compete on the CBS television network game show Jeopardy! over three episodes
