In the past year I learned that SDN is real, and is about to change the world. Now let me take a step back. At the start of 2014 I was like many others in the networking world who believed SDN was just a buzzword. I believed that automation and perhaps a bit of traffic engineering was all that SDN amounted to. But now my eyes have been opened to the real possibilities.
It has been an interesting year for the network industry and in particular the way we perceive threats. Our networks have been the plumbing in which our applications connect. We have wrapped ring fences around areas of our network, defined what can communicate to each other and ensured postures were maintained.
