Anyone knows how does MAG4610 work with MAG4611?

‎06-26-2012 08:08 PM

Hi,

Anyone knows how does MAG4610 work with MAG4611?

Any kb or doc link to share?

(Information gathering is really challenging here... esp. the details...)

Thanks!

Hi ,

MAG 4610 and MAg 4611 are two different MAG products.

MAG 4610 : only SA/UAC is  loaded

1U Chassis + 1 SM-160 Application Blade with Fixed configuration chassis,

can run only IVE and UAC applications. Can run only as SA or UAC appliance.

MAG 4611: only WX OS loaded
1U Chassis + 1 SM-161 Application Blade with Fixed configuration chassis, WX OS applications.

Can run only as wx device.

Hope the above information clarifies your query

Kannan

Are you looking to determine how to get the appaccel up & running? Or is there another query associated with the question?

I'm looking for answers to questions below:
1. Is MAG4611 able to work alone? Is there a kb or doc link on this?
2. Are MAG4610, MAG4611 able to work together? Is there a kb or doc link on this?
Thanks!

1) i believe so, however, it might be best to ask in the WX/AppAccel forum

2) should be able to work together; what are you seeing?

Hi Mike,

Yes, both are possible, however, it completely depends on how to put them togather. Mostly following should be the deployment scenerio:

 client >>>> (Internet) >>>>>Router >>>SA(optional) >>>> MAG 4411 >>> MAG 4410(optional) >>>> Server

For more information on MAG4611 please following the link:

  1. Product Marketing Material – http://www-int.jnpr.net/dns/marketing/products/wx/
  2. Product Documentation – http://www.juniper.net/support/products/mag/#doc

Product TOI Training - https://learningportal.juniper.net/juniper/user_activity_info.aspx?id=4965

Please let me know if that helps.

Are the below solutions feasible:
1. SA2500 with MAG4611? (Y/N)
2. MAG4610 with MAG4611? (Y/N)
2. MAG6610/6611 with MAG4611? (Y/N)

BTW, Product TOI Training - https://learningportal.juniper.net/juniper/user_activity_info.aspx?id=4965 is not found.

Thanks!

Hello Michael,

I am not so sure exactly what you are asking about since you did not say cluster. But I would assume you are talking about clustering because they all can operate independently in the same environvent and use the same licensing server similar to having SRX100 to 5600 in the same environment. However assuming you are asking about clustering, then the short answer is no. The supported scenarios is that the platforms have to be the same Hardware platforms and OS versions.

1.
MAG2600 gateways can be clustered in a pair.
2.
MAG4610 gateways can be clustered in a pair.
3.
For MAG6610 gateways, you may cluster two service modules
in a pair (assuming any two MAG-SM160 or MAG-SM360
service modules are installed in the chassis).
4.
For MAG6611 gateways, you may cluster two service modules in
a pair, either using the MAG-SM160 or MAG-SM360. To cluster
three or four service modules will require all MAG-SM360
service modules in the chasis.

Requirements and Limitations

You must follow these considerations when deploying a cluster:

**Cluster members must run the same software version.**
**Cluster members must use the same hardware platform.**
State synchronization must occur only through the internal Network Interface Card (NIC).
Ensure the cluster communication and resource access must take place over an internal network.
You can deploy active/active or active/passive clustering only within the same IP subnet
