Trace Route

when i tried to trace route from LAN side to WXC in remote side, it show IP of local WXC twice.

please advice me, to solve this issue.

 

 

LAN---WXC(local site)------------------------WXC(remote site)-----LAN

 

as follow:

 

tracert -d 20.10.18.20

1 1 ms  <1ms    <1ms  20.168.251.254 

2 1 ms   1ms    1ms   10.25.254.1--->ip of Gatway router in local site

3   <1ms    <1ms  <1ms  10.25.253.100 ---->IP of local WXC
4  1ms    <1ms  <1ms  10.25.253.100 -----IP OF local WXc  ???????????
5  71 ms  74ms    75 ms 20.10.18.20

Is this an inline or off-path deployment? I'd go for the later.

What version of code are you running?

Coz' yeah we've noticed this behavior starting 5.4.8.0

Could you confirm the version of WXOS you're using?

we used version 5.7.1.1

Indeed.

Then I guess you should open a JTAC case if it's causing grief (using traceroute as a monitoring tool etc..)

Hello,

 

The issue related to double hops is a know issue, and documented in the software release notes under PR 313482 so there is no need to log a JTAC call.

 

You do have an option to take traceroute out of the optimisation tunnel which will solve the issue and IMHO is the best solution as then the traceroute packets will be routed normally and show you all the hops across your network path.

 

This problem is basically caused by tunnel in and tunnel out hops on the same device.
