WXC redurection

‎08-24-2011 08:54 AM

Hi,

Plesae, am working on a project on WXC 3400 as the hub and 1800 as the spoke on remote location. On each of the spoke locations they have VLANs 3 and 4.But VLAN 3 has been added on the WXC 802.1q.Redirection has been done using WCCP but no compression of traffic at both ends

Here is the network topology  Core Switch connected to the HUB WXC on interface G2/7,hence the rdirection

   ip wccp 60 redirect-list

   ip wccp 70 redirect-list

intreface G2/7

ip address/subnetmask

    ip wccp 60 redirect out

    ip wccp 70 redirect out

access-list 101 permit ip any................................/subnetmask

And the Units are advertising only it's compression subnet

Hi,

I feel that the WCCP redirection  configuration on the Router may be incorrect.

The traffic from the LAN interface has to be redirected  using the "redirect in" command.

Please refer the WXOS 5.7 Admin guide for the WCCP configuration  on the Router.

Also, ensure that the Compression tunnel is formed between the WXC peers to compress the traffic.

If you need any support on the WCCP redirection, please open a JTAC case to help your further.

Thanks,

Hi,

Thanks for your response. Please, the redirection has been properly done and traffic is been redirected to the spoke device. The chalange now is that we can't log on to the spoke device but when we remove the redirection we can log on to the spoke device. The customer has VLAN 3 and VLAN 4 on their access switch. The redirection is been done on the subinterface of the router that merges the two vlans to the access switch and yet we can't log on to the device.

Hi Anselm,

When you say not able to logon, is it via GUI or via SSH?  Is the WXC reachable and were you able to ping the device ?

If the GUI doesnt work, please try SSH and let me know.

Thanks,

Hi,

Thanks for quick response.we can't log on via GUI but we can log on via ssh and we can ping the spoke devices and the default gateway as well.We can log on via GUI to the HUB devices at the headoffice were they don't have VLANs.But at their branch office were they have series of VLANS we can log on via GUI when the redirection is done, though the redirection is working fine at the head office.

Hi Anselm,

Thanks for confirming it. Now the issue is only with the GUI access to the WXC in the branch office where Vlans are configured and the WCCP redirection is enabled.

Can you please confirm, from where you are trying to access the Branch WXC GUI

- From the Head office client machine? (Remote subnet)

- From the Branch office client machine? (Local subnet)

From which client machine you are unable to access ?

If you are able to access via the Local subnet machine and unable to access via the remote subnet machine, then please check for any Firewall settings on the network which may block the HTTPS traffic.

If you are accessing from the Remote subnet machine, please check if HTTPS Application definition is enabled  for Compression in the Head office WXC.

If its enabled, please disable it and give a try.

If its disabled, please enable it and give a try.

If any of these configuration changes doesnt work, please open a JTAC case, we can have a secure meeting and get this issue fixed.

Thanks,

Magesh S.

Hi,

Thanks for your concern, i have already open a Case #2011-0824-0418.the issue now is that we log to the remote devices via GUI and the redirection is matching traffic on the spoke device at their branch office but no compression. But here in their head office redirection is ok and we can log on to the device via GUI..Please,you can log on via secure meeting and confirm the configs.

We had a secure meeting and made the necessary changes and  ensured the traffic is getting optimized.

if you are happy with the solution, please mark it as an acceptable solution.
