This month, Juniper celebrated 20 years of innovation! Since opening its doors on February 6, 1996, Juniper has been committed to solving the most complex networking problems. Thanks for your support during this journey.
This month we publicized that mixi, Japan’s leading social networking service provider, will rev up their content innovation with Juniper’s data center solution. Additionally, we expanded our global alliance with NEC and began a new alliance with Affirmed Networks. Check out this month’s featured content for more information on our big announcements.
We are pleased to introduce new team member, Ryan Chan, as our new Analyst Relations Manager here at Juniper. Ryan has thrived between AR and MI for the past 4 years and will be primarily focused on the enterprise networking market. He is located at our Sunnyvale headquarters and can be reached at RyanMChan@juniper.net.
If you are attending Mobile World Congress, catch us at the event on February 22-25 at Hall 2, Booth #2J60. Within our overarching theme “Build More than a Network”, Juniper will discuss how the company can help create business value for mobile network operators through technology innovation. For more information on the various solutions we will be showcasing at our booth and various events we will be sponsoring or participating in, please see the official press release.
mixi Taps Juniper Networks to Boost Hybrid Cloud Agility
Over the last two years, mixi, Japanese online entertainment and media group, has experienced explosive revenue and traffic growth. In order to support their growing needs, mixi has selected Juniper Networks to implement their data center solution utilitizing Juniper Networks® QFX5100 Ethernet Switches to support MPLS/VRF in conjunction with Juniper Networks MX480 3D Universal Edge Routers and EX Series switches to help eliminate critical operational bottlenecks. As a result, mixi can now seamlessly and dynamically move workloads between in-house and outsourced cloud data centers, improving customer experience and boosting developer productivity.
By deploying Juniper Networks QFX5100 Ethernet Switches to support MPLS/VRF in conjunction with Juniper Networks MX480 3D Universal Edge Routers and EX Series switches, mixi realized its vision of a seamless connection with cloud environments and secure multi-tenancy through routing table segmentation. Streamlined network management using Juniper Networks Junos® software across both platforms was a major factor in mixi's choice of service provider. Junos has greatly simplified previously complex operational tasks, such as the assignment of new routes to ACLs.
NEC and Juniper Networks Expand Global Alliance to Deliver Latest NFV-Based Solutions
Juniper and NEC announced the expansion of their global alliance relationship to deliver Network Functions Virtualization (NFV)-based solutions that allow service providers and enterprises to gain greater service agility to transform their business operations and help them lower overall costs. The joint solutions combine the NEC Cloud System (OSS building model), which is an OpenStack-based cloud infrastructure, with NetCracker's OSS/BSS systems, end-to-end service orchestration, systems integration capabilities and consulting options along with Juniper Networks' networking equipment and virtual network functions (VNFs), such as the Juniper Networks® vMX routing platform and vSRX Virtual Firewall.
NEC will leverage Juniper Networks' NFV-ready hardware and software within their enterprise virtualized Customer Premises Equipment (vCPE) solution to enable the flexibility of a virtualized service environment. When combined with NetCracker OSS/BSS and end-to-end service orchestration capabilities, the solution can provide service providers and enterprise customers with a viable means of delivering cloud-based business services in a fully automated fashion in near real-time.
NEC and Juniper have been working together since 2003 with a common goal of offering robust solutions for service providers and enterprises, and focusing on key areas, such as microwave/IP backhaul and optical/IP integration, that deliver dynamic, application-aware network performance. With today's announcement, their global alliance relationship expands to include software-defined networking (SDN) and NFV-based solutions to aid customers in the business transformation journey.
Juniper Networks Partners With Affirmed Networks to Help Mobile Operators Quickly and Profitable Embrace Next-Generation NFV-Based Architectures
Juniper and Affirmed Networks announced the formation of a technology partnership focused on the development of solutions that help service providers transition quickly and efficiently to a virtualized mobile architecture. The goal of the partnership's virtualized mobile network reference architecture is to enable wireless service providers to deploy new services faster and at a lower cost than legacy solutions.
The reference architecture combines Affirmed Networks' Mobile Content Cloud™ virtualized evolved packet core solution (vEPC) with Juniper Networks' virtualization portfolio, which includes the Juniper Networks® vSRX Virtual Firewall, Contrail Cloud Platform and MetaFabric™ Architecture for data center deployments. Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) has emerged as an ideal solution to enable telecommunication service providers to quickly, easily and profitably deliver new services. The joint reference architecture by Juniper Networks and Affirmed Networks is being developed to simplify the transition to NFV with a clear path for operators to successfully and profitably deploy virtualized mobile networks.
