Software is Driving New Innovations in the Network
Apr 30, 2015
Imagine a world in which an enterprise customer walks into the office in the morning with a set of ideas for new services and network requirements. First thing they do is sit down at their computer to customize an order through a website in minutes. They go order their favorite cup of Java and read the morning headlines. Upon returning to their desk, they find the order processed, implemented and operational.
This new reality is what SDN delivers by transforming the network and services, introducing exciting business opportunities and delivering services with velocity one could only dream of in the past.
And Juniper is leading this transformation. Our comprehensive SDN vision in January 2013 paved the way for Juniper delivering the first carrier-grade SDN solution, Contrail, just eight months later.
Fast-forward 18 months and the promise of SDN is becoming a reality. For example, two of the largest service providers in the world, AT&T — and most recently Verizon — have included Juniper as a partner in their SDN initiatives. Verizon’s SDN initiative is expected to provide rapid time-to-market for new services, an agile network that adapts to variable market conditions and excellence in automation resulting in operational efficiencies.
And service providers such as COLT, Orange Business Services and Cloudwatt are already realizing the benefits that software, automation and virtualization can offer.
Using Juniper’s cloud orchestration platform on Contrail Cloud, freedom of choice between physical or virtual platforms on our MX/vMX and SRX/vSRX products and a commitment to openness through APIs and open standards, we will continue to lead in innovation that helps our customers solve their biggest challenges and capitalize on the biggest opportunities.
There’s no question that the combined power of performance and automation is transforming network economics. The question that does remain is which partner proven experience to join you in this all-important journey. Learn more about our NFV and SDN capabilities and let us know what you think.
