Introducing Juniper Fan-of-the-Month for September
Sep 19, 2014

fotm_wendoh.pngWe would like to introduce our September Fan-of-the-Month Willys Wendoh, also known as wendohw on Twitter and in the J-Net Community, both of which he is actively involved in. We appreciate all he does as a Juniper Fan and would like to congratulate him for being our Fan-of-the-Month! Find out more about Willys in the interview below.

How long have you been using Juniper products?

Learnt about Juniper when still in college, and when I was done, no one would convince me that there’s a better way to build robust Networks. It’s been three years now since I got my hands on a Juniper device. Never looked back since then. Glad that, in my current role, I advise customers on Juniper based solutions, so that keeps me updated.

What was the first Juniper product you worked with?

This was an SRX100. Pretty nimble box that gave me a chance to test out the nice features I had read. Very excited about the Junos Release 12.1X47-D10.4. Can’t wait to test out “Direct AD integration” now supported, and “Multiple Zones for policies”.

What is your favorite thing about working with Juniper products?

The best thing is the flexibility and how features are turned on. Junos gives you multiple neat ways of achieving the same set of requirements. Also important is the fact that same set of features are supported on all the members of a product family..e.g SRX100 and SRX5800, since they all run one Junos OS.

What advice would you give to others considering Juniper certifications?

It can be difficult to learn new things, especially after getting comfortable with traditional vendor equipment, but the trick is in the trying. Once you give it a shot, your perspective will totally change. How stuff is done on Junos is different in an interesting way. Study material is very much available, and not much investment required for the Associate and Specialist level. (Hint: First Track Program).

What Juniper product do you dream of working with?

I dream of working on the QFabric of course. In true sprit of Occam’s Razor principle, the QFabric demonstrates, that the Simplest way is the best way to solve a problem. The architectural concept is a genius. I’d also love to work on WebApp Secure and Contrail.
