Perform the following steps to post your configuration to the Configuration Library:

1. CHECK CONFIGURATION FOR CONFIDENTIAL DATA

Check your configuration for the confidential data, such as the following:
  • Usage of external IP addresses
  • Password, login, auth, and admin data
  • SNMP configuration
For Junos configurations, run the config_check script.  It searches for the following strings:
'root-authentication'
'radius-server'
'encrypted-password'
'SECRET-DATA'
External IP address (excluding
10.x.x.x, 172.x.x.x, 192.0.2.x, 198.51.100.x, 203.0.113.x, 192.168.x.x, or 127.0.0.1)
To run the script, perform the following steps:
a. Save config_check.zip (see Attachments in this post) to your PC.
b. Unzip config_check.zip.
c. Run the script from a command prompt (Select Start > Run, and specify cmd):   config_check
d. Correct the recommendations and re-run the script (step c).

2. REMOVE CONFIDENTIAL DATA FROM CONFIGURATION
If using the config_check script, correct any recommendations and rerun the script until you have removed all the confidential data.

3. POST A NEW MESSAGE USING THE CONFIGURATION LIBRARY TEMPLATE
a. Copy the contents of the CONFIGURATION LIBRARY TEMPLATE below.
b. Click New Message in the J-Net > Premium Programs > Configuration Library.
c. Paste the template into the body of the message.
d. Fill out the template.
e. Attach your configuration (with confidential information removed (see steps 1 and 2) and comments added.
Note:  For configurations of Juniper products that are based on a GUI interface, it is recommended to put the completed screenshots (with comments) in Powerpoint or Word (and save it as a PDF).
f. Click Post.

Why do people attach .doc files when .txt would suffice?

It only contains some bold font, but needs to be downloaded and then opened - while most browsers will show .txt directly.
