Cloud Adoption Rate Soaring, As Seen at AWS re:Invent 2015
Oct 16, 2015
Juniper Networks was a first-time platinum sponsor of AWS re:Invent – Amazon Web Services’ fourth annual cloud computing tradeshow that took place in Las Vegas from Oct. 6th-9th, which yielded a whopping 18,400 attendees. According to our booth manager Rob Deschenes of ECI Marketing, “the level of energy and engagement here has not been seen since ’98 at Interop”.
Looking back at previous attendance rates from 2013 and 2014, the increase is over 40% over the last two years! The energy and excitement in my opinion, bursts from the shared excitement about increase in cloud adoption being met with tools to leverage the cloud – the visitors we had at our Juniper booth and our breakout session were genuinely focused and insatiably curious.
We had a large booth front and center at the expo hall, as well as a one-hour breakout session on Oct. 8th, titled “Enable and Secure Your Business Applications via Hybrid Cloud in AWS”, led by Shishir Agrawal and Ariful Huq, Sr. Product Managers for vSRX and vMX, respectively. The session was attended by 113 people! We also had a constant stream of engagement at our booth – even after we ran out of swag – and directed countless attendees to our vMX and vSRX product managers and engineers for more technical discussions. We had strong technical, marketing and sales presence, and no question was left unanswered.
Through our booth and breakout session, we promoted our virtual router and virtual firewall, which will be the first Juniper products available in the AWS ecosystem with a BYOL (Bring Your Own License) offering. They will be available in the AWS marketplace with hourly and monthly billing options in 2016.
Our breakout session was based, in part, on the facts that 91% of net new software was built for cloud delivery in 2014 (IDC Directions), and Nearly 70% of enterprises will pursue the hybrid cloud by 2015 (Gartner). Our session leaders discussed how to manage the difficulties in migrating to a hybrid cloud model. Shedding perspective on Juniper’s own migration to the cloud, our very own IT CTO and Corporate VP Gary Clark interviewed at re:Invent, announcing that “we are 85% in the cloud”. Gary also talked about how Juniper as a traditional network vendor is adapting to rapid cloud adoption in the industry, and the importance of automation for managing increasingly complex networks. Hear his interview at the link below.
Thanks to such buzz around re:Invent, and our new offerings that will be sold through AWS, Juniper recently became an “all-in” technology partner with AWS. Being mutual customers, we are excited to explore upcoming joint marketing with AWS. They have already featured us in a blog post! Feel free to check it out below, as well as our re:Invent breakout session recording, Gary’s interview, and our media alert on this event.
