OpenLab: Igniting Network Innovation in Silicon Valley Through Hands-On Education
Oct 3, 2016

DSCF3277.jpgEarlier this year, we announced the global expansion of Juniper’s OpenLab Program to catalyze networking innovation worldwide. We’re continuing on this journey with the opening of our Silicon Valley location on October 4, 2016, building on the success of Juniper’s flagship OpenLab innovation center in New Jersey.

Located in Juniper’s headquarters in Sunnyvale, Calif., OpenLab Silicon Valley will provide Juniper’s customers and partners, universities, start-ups and other industry leaders with hands-on access to a suite of Juniper automation products and tools. From hosting hackathons to offering educational programs on software-defined networking (SDN) technology, OpenLab Silicon Valley will equip current and emerging industry pioneers with the skills needed to stay ahead of networking evolution.

Now more than ever it’s critical for leaders to learn new skills to keep up with a rapidly changing industry. A global survey by Wakefield Research revealed that nearly half of IT decision makers surveyed believe their workforce will not have the skills needed for their role five years from now. Juniper’s OpenLab Program aims to tackle this challenge through skills transformation. OpenLab Silicon Valley Program participants will have the unique opportunity to gain real-world practical insights into the future of the networking industry and uncover how to address business challenges.

Since opening its doors in 2012, our first OpenLab center in New Jersey has hosted more than 150 hands-on technology training sessions and eight SDN “Throwdowns” (a hands-on educational workshop and hackathon experience) involving 24 different universities from across the globe. Our OpenLab in Silicon Valley –  along with our other locations opening in Amsterdam, London, Tokyo, Singapore and Sydney – will seek to mirror New Jersey’s success in arming IT leaders.

In the coming months, OpenLab Silicon Valley will invite customers, partners, academia and others to participate in workshops, Throwdowns and other activities taking place in our new location. For more information on OpenLab and its programs, please reference
