  • 1.  32Gbps VC cable instead of 64Gbps

    Hi all,

The Juniper marketing and tech documents state that the EX-4200 Virtual Chassis connections occur at 128Gbps.  Each cable providing you with 64Gbps.

When I do a show command I see that the speed is actually 32Gbps.   Is there some special Cisco math I am not getting here.

    show virtual-chassis vc-port
    fpc0:
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------
Interface Type Trunk Status Speed Neighbor
    or ID (mbps) ID Interface
    PIC / Port
    vcp-0 Dedicated 1 Up 32000 1 vcp-1
    vcp-1 Dedicated 2 Up 32000 1 vcp-0

I think it's a case of Cisco math.

32G full-duplex, so they call it 64G.  You have 2 connections between cluster members to create a ring, so they call it 128G.

I could be wrong, but that's how I interpret it.

    Makes sense.

    Thanks.

64Gbps full-duplex per port.  Two ports would render 128Gbps full-duplex aggregate.
