Hi,
I'm looking at replacing my layer3 switches (cisco 3560) with Juniper units and want to look at having a failover gateway for the routed VLANS.
Can someone please tell me the technical name for this and which switches support this feature?
Thanks
Andrew.
I think you are refering to VRRP, similar to HSRP only industry standard.
The EX2200 and 2500 don't support this, but it seems the EX3200, 3300, 4200 and 4500 do support this.
Hope this helps.
Thanks, perfect answer, just what I needed.
Regards
Don't do it. Use stackable switches for failover. ditch VRRP and spanning tree.
