Bandwidth utilization ? which one, physical or logical?
Question for Junos support community,
for the purpose of monitoring the bandwidth on an interface? is it better to use the physical interface or should the logical be used instead? are there any differences ? thank you in advance for your input.
Re: Bandwidth utilization ? which one, physical or logical?
If you interface is in L3 mode (with for example tagging of vlan on the sub interfaces, and multiple sub-interfaces), it's better to graph the sub interfaces.. if your interface is only on unit 0 family ethernet-switching, you can monitor the physical interface.
In my case, in the beginning I used to graph both.. and the values where the same.
Long story short.. If you have only one sub interface, graph the physical, if you have multiple sub interfaces, graph the sub interfaces.
