  • 1.  DAC between a EX3400 and a EX2300 NOT WORKING

    Posted 04-01-2019 12:28

    Hi,

    I just put a EX-SFP-10GE-DAC-5M between a EX3400 (15.1X53-D52) and a EX2300 (15.1X53-D58.3) and it's not working.

The green LED under the SFP are continuously and do not flash.

We should do a simple connection between these 2 hardware.

Is there a special configuration ?

Any help or thing to control ?

    Thanks.

Is it an original Juniper DAC cable?

Please provide 'show chassis hardware | match Xcvr' to show if cable is properly recognised.

Please also check that non of the ports aren't configured for virtual chassis. Seen via 'show virtual-chassis vc-port'.

On a general note Junos 15.1X53 releases before 15.1X53-D58 has had their issues, so I would no matter what, recommend an upgrade of the EX3400 to latest recommended release (currently 15.1X53-D59) and test again.

Please let us know if you are able to get it working via the inputs above.

    Hi,

Thanks for your quick answer... for helping you :

    - It's an original Juniper networks DAC Cable.

    - I send you next the command "show chassis hardware | match Xcvr' (i have put for the moment 2 SFP+ FastEthernet with a network cable because these material are in production).

    - show virtual-chassis vc-port gives :
    fpc0:
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------
Interface Type Trunk Status Speed Neighbor
    or ID (mbps) ID Interface
    PIC / Port
    1/0 Configured 5 Up 40000 1 vcp-255/1/1
    1/1 Configured 5 Up 40000 1 vcp-255/1/0

    fpc1:
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------
Interface Type Trunk Status Speed Neighbor
    or ID (mbps) ID Interface
    PIC / Port
    1/0 Configured 5 Up 40000 0 vcp-255/1/1
    1/1 Configured 5 Up 40000 0 vcp-255/1/0

Indeed, i have two 3400 who make a VC with rear SFP+ connection.

-) I will try an update if it worth it with my troube... 🙂

    Thanks again.

    Bye !

    Hello back !

    I found the solution...

I've configured the ge-0/x/x instead of the xe-0/x/x

ge for fiber/network cable and xe for DAC  ?

    thanks a lot !

    Bye !

For Ethernet interfaces, the interface naming refers to the speed of the interface.  Generally speaking, fe is for fast Ethernet, ge is for gigabit Ethernet, xe is for 10-gigabit Ethernet, and et is used for interfaces faster than 10-gig.
