  • 1.  Deciphering SFP receive power low log messages

    Posted 11-07-2011 13:05

We have a virutal chassis conposed of a number of EX4200 switches, we are getting entries of this type in the messages logfile:

Nov  7 14:48:23  <hostname>[755]:  link 13 SFP receive power low  alarm set

The issue is how to decipher what 'link 13' actually means relative to the chassis.  How to match it to an actual interface.  Any help is appreciated.

Run "show interfaces diagnostics optics" to check Rx Power on all interfaces.

Thanks for the input, but I'm aware of the command you cite.  Where in the output of the command would it tell me which interface is 'link 13'?

If this is the unique interface with RX alarm set, from the show interface diagnostic optics runned onto all interfaces, you should be able to find out which one is causing this log...

After that we you can try to understand if there is any relation with the link 13 indication of the log...

I have the same issue and you actually can't find any reference to this id in the printouts. See example below:

I don't know if its related, but an early 10.x release would generate SFP errors in an SRX 650 against ge-0/0/3 ...with no SFP interfaces installed, so you may not be able to find a culprit interface.
