EX4300 JunOS 17.3R3.10 Multicast QoS Issues

‎01-16-2019 08:57 AM

Hi All,

Having some issues getting QoS working on my EX4300, it is regarding Mulitcast traffic. I am trying to set up QoS so the video MS traffic has priority and I have it set up in Queue No 10 as mcast-af, Video (I set up Video.)

But when doing an "show interfaces ge-0/0/21 extensive" it shows 90% of my Multicast traffic is still going through queue 8 (mcast-be,) and not the one I thought I had specified.

Reading online I have seen a few posts / articles saying that it isn't possible on this version of JunOS, can any one advise me if this is true and if not how do I go about configuring it ?

I am running JunOS 17.3R3.10

Port configuration;

"description TEST_DEVICE;
unit 0 {
    family ethernet-switching {
        vlan {
            members adi-ctrl-int;
        }
    }
}"

QOS I created;

Video                                 4      10          2             high               normal            low

Thanks in advance.

Can you post your class-of-service configuration and output of 'show interfaces ge-0/0/21 extensive' ?

Hi Smicker,

Attached them via a text file due to how long they are.

Thanks.

Can you post your actual class-of-service configuration? Is your multicast traffic already tagged with DSCP AF and/or are you classifiying it on ingress? The issue with the 4300's is that there were/are no classifiers for multicast traffic -- I don't know if this has changed with 17.x.

Is this what you are looking for ? Sorry semi new to JunOS.

class-of-service {
    classifiers {
        ieee-802.1 ADI-802.1p-classifier {
            forwarding-class Video {
                loss-priority low code-points 111;
            }
        }
    }
    forwarding-classes {
        class Video queue-num 10;
    }
    interfaces {
        ge-0/0/21 {
            scheduler-map ADI-scheduler-map;
        }
    }
    scheduler-maps {
        ADI-scheduler-map {
            forwarding-class Video scheduler Video-scheduler-ADI;
        }
    }
    schedulers {
        Video-scheduler-ADI {
            shaping-rate percent 95;
            buffer-size percent 25;
            priority strict-high;
        }
    }
    multi-destination {
        classifiers {
            ieee-802.1 ADI-802.1p-classifier;
        }
    }
}

Thanks and Regards

I don't see that traffic is being classifed on ingress, for example:

set class-of-service interfaces ge-* unit * classifiers ieee-802.1 ADI-802.1p-classifier

Otherwise your config does seem complete. I'm not familiar enough with multicast qos to know if the built-in multicast queues override any custom classifiers. This may be the limitation folks referred to previously and may need a call to JTAC to clarify.

Thanks for the help, will see about adding it and if that doesn't do much will give them a call.
