Ex4300 cluster adding SPF card and add Ex3300 to the cluster

‎10-08-2019 08:50 AM

I have an ex4300 switch that is clustered with 5 ex4300 switches. I am adding EX-UM-4X4SFP card on the Primary and secondary of the ex4300 cluster then connect 3 of the ex3300 on a different floor.

1. How do I program the EX-UM-4X4SFP card to the Primary and secondary of the ex4300 on the cluster.

2. Then add the other 3 ex3300 switches to the SFP and cluster them to the ex4300.

Hi Digitalk,

You can follow the steps on the below link to install your EX-UM-4X4SFP  modules on the EX4300s:

https://www.juniper.net/documentation/en_US/release-independent/junos/topics/topic-map/ex4300-uplink...

You can use those 4 ports either as regular ports, or as VCports. To check if ports are configured as VCports run: show virtual-chassis vc-ports

If you would like to use the as VCports, you can configure them using the below command from the operational mode:

request virtual-chassis vc-port set pic-slot "slot-number" port "port-number" member-id "switch VC ID"

If the ports were already configured as VCports, you can use the below command to turn them into regular ports, also from the operational mode:

request virtual-chassis vc-port delete pic-slot "slot-number" port "port-number" member-id "switch VC ID"

https://www.juniper.net/documentation/en_US/junos/topics/task/configuration/virtual-chassis-ex4200-u...

If using the ports as regular interfaces, you can just configure them as trunk/access or Layer 3 ports to interconnect your EX4300 cluster with other switch as EX3300. Just check for the proper configuration as EX4300s are ELS and EX3300 run legacy OS.

 Hope that helps!
