Fail Over

Hi, I have two EX2300 stacks and my client is using the EX2300 to do failover between a dedicated eLAN circuit and Cisco ASA VPNs as backup paths.  What is the best method?  The switches have OSPF and I've been coached by support to use RPM probes and event-options to respond to Ping_Test failures.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thx....

Hello R,

Thanks for the response, I have seen this link and was going to begin testing this tomorrow but thanks for sending!  Is there anyway to set it up using OSPF or is this the only way?

Thanks,

Hello jortiz,

The monitoring of next-hop concept can be used with OSPF too.  Just decide what you need to deactivate if the primary next-hop isn't reachable and include in the "change-configuration" statement.

For example: (a few options)

deactivate protocols ospf area 0 interface ge-0/0/0

activate protocols ospf area 0 interface ge-0/0/1

OR

activate protocols ospf import reject_route_from_10.1.1.1

OR

activate protocols ospf area 0 interface ge-0/0/0 cost 30

Hope this helps.
