Monitor traffic inteface XXXX command

Hi everybody

 

I am a newbie to juniper. Quick question for you guys, on juniper platform does the command " monitor traffic interface XXX" only show the control plane traffic not transit traffic?

 

Am  I  corrrect ?

 

I apprecaite your help

yes the monitor traffic command does not show transit - only traffic destined to / from the I/F.

One time , tried to ping from one SRX to other connected point to point, ping was successful but I couldn't see the received ping request on the destination interface using monitor traffic interface command, seems it only shows the traffic going to control plane!
