Upgrading EX4200 series switch

‎11-30-2016 09:59 AM

Hi, Planning to upgrade an EX4200 series switch which is on 10.3, just to do backup trying to download the old version.

But not able to find the junos version file. Any one can assist in locating where the software file is strored.

If any one have already upgraded it from 10.3 to 12 can you please share if you have faced any issue while doing it.

Contact TAC, they can get you old code. Think you will need to do multiple staged upgrades to get to 12.3.

If you do not have a service contract than using code other than that which came with switch is actually illegal. FYI only.

I did an upgrade project with a lot of version 10 code up to 12.  The most reliable path was as follows.

Move devices to 10.4 version

upgrade from 10.4 to 11.4

upgrade from 11.4 to the desired 12 version

As mentioned you will need TAC help to get code from 11.4 on back.  Contact customer support even if you don't have a contract.  There were a lot of EX devices that were sold with complementary hardware only support and you might get lucky.

Not sure where along the 10.4 path you are but make sure dual-root partition does not bite you as well.  If not done, best to get there on 10.4 before moving forward.
