We are getting error at login time "kern. maxfiles limit exceeded by uid 0 . please see tuning(7)"

 

can't login from console also, what is the reason? anybody help me to restore the issue.

I would suspect some sort of filesystem corruption.  Likely a reinstall of JunOS from the bootloader would be in order.

take a look at these references and see if you could use one to resolve the issue. You may have reboot, and go into single use mode in order to access the cli, if you cannot access from the console. One other thing, change the console cable, just to humor me. I have heard a number of issues with console cables, though I do not suspent it in this particular case.

We are seeing this error as well on an EX4500 VC running 12.3R6.6, as the end uswer was running request-support-info. Rpd is core dumping and access to the box stalls with the following sent to terminal. Terminal becomes unresponsive and reboot is required to regain access.

 

It's pretty clear that the switch is chewing up file descriptor buffer space and not freeing any up. I haven't found any PRs related to EX series doing this, only the QFX and M,MX and T series.
