replace

hi all,

Some reasons, vlans(123,124,125,126) on EX9200 are needed to move to the ae20 from the ae10. In order to this, I tried the following:

1-) Before deleting any thing, I changed only ae10 from the following existing configuration to ae20 and then copy paste, but Junos gave error (already same vlans etc.... ). In this case I did rollback and tried the following.

2-) I then deleted these vlan (#delete interfaces ae10 unit 12[3-6]) first from the ae10 and then created the same configuration to ae20 instead of ae10. This was worked. No problem...

Question is here: Is there a way to move this vlans to the another existing LAG without involving in any deletions?

set interfaces ae10 unit 123 description T122
set interfaces ae10 unit 123 encapsulation vlan-bridge
set interfaces ae10 unit 123 vlan-id 123
set interfaces ae10 unit 123 family ethernet-switching vlan T122
set interfaces ae10 unit 124 description T234
set interfaces ae10 unit 124 encapsulation vlan-bridge
set interfaces ae10 unit 124 vlan-id 124
set interfaces ae10 unit 124 family ethernet-switching vlan members T234
set interfaces ae10 unit 125 description TR345
set interfaces ae10 unit 125 encapsulation vlan-bridge
set interfaces ae10 unit 125 vlan-id 125
set interfaces ae10 unit 125 family ethernet-switching vlan members TR345
set interfaces ae10 unit 126 description TR2345
set interfaces ae10 unit 126 encapsulation vlan-bridge
set interfaces ae10 unit 126 vlan-id 126
set interfaces ae10 unit 126 family ethernet-switching vlan members TR2345

Hi Arix,

From what I understand, you don't need ae10 any longer ? If that is the case , have you tried rename/replace ?

If ae10 config is still needed, try out the copy option.

edit interface

rename ae10 to ae20

edit interface

replace pattern ae10 to ae20

edit interface

copy ae10 to ae20

The entire unit config will be moved to the new ae interface. Give these a try and let me know if it works.

Hi vpathak,

No, ae10 is still being used because there are other vlans on ae10 in production. We can not touch the ae10 etc... But we need move only these vlans (123-126) from ae10 to ae20. In this case, which one of those(Copy/replace patern/rename etc) work with only single one Junos Cli?

rename/replace will remove the config from ae10. So, do not use them in case you have other vlans and config to be used on ae10, as you confirmed.

Try the copy option. It would not delete anything. Just add the config on ae20. It would copy the entire config from ae10 to ae20. Only problem is, you will have to remove certain vlans on ae20, in case you do not intend to use the entire vlan set from ae10 on ae20.

Hello ARIX ,

we can use this below Options without changing the existing configuration

1,replace pattern

replace pattern ge-0/0/0 with ge-1/0/0
replace pattern  ae10 to ae 20

 2,Replace

rename interfaces ge-0/0/0 to ge-1/0/0
rename ae 10 to ae 20

3,Copy

 copy interface ge-0/0/0 to ge-1/0/0
copy ae 10 to ae 20

For more information kindly refer below docs

https://www.juniper.net/documentation/en_US/junos/topics/topic-map/modifying-configuration.html

Note the above thing only moved configuration from ae 10 to ae 20

Try using the below Docs if you have any issue with vlan memebership changing
