xe- interfaces not working in EX330 virtual-chassis configuration

‎05-17-2012 02:35 AM

Hi,

I have a virtual chassis configuration with two EX3300 switches.

I'm having trouble with the xe- interfaces. Sometimes they work, I can see them in 'show interfaces terse' and they are up, but they only work periodic and sometimes when I do a 'show interfaces xe-0/1/0 detail' I get a 'error: device xe-0/1/0 not found'.

I've tried to find someting in the logs; but don't know what to look for... the chassisd log have this in the bottom:

where it marks the interfaces as down.

I've also experienced the backup to reboot spontaniously.

Anyone know what to look for? If it's a hardware error etc?

Looks like your optics modules are not up to snuff. Not sure about the random reboot; it may be related.

I updated the switches to the latest 12.x version before configuring them. So in an attempt to make it work I first loaded the factory default (didn't work), then zerorized it (didn't work), and downgraded it to the earliest 11.x version. Cleared both switches to factory default and started from scratch which worked - they have been running since.

So I don't know why or what they did, I just need to get them running before tomorrow... but I'm still not happy about the reboot...
